About

Mission

It is the mission of Hermanos Unidos de Cal Poly Pomona to provide its members with the proper tools and support needed to become a well-rounded individual while they pursue their degree in their respective fields. Through academic excellence, community service involvement, social networking, and our philosophy "El Nuevo Hombre," we hope each member strives to break Latino stereotypes and become a positive influence in the Latino community, both during and after college.

History
Hermanos Unidos was first started in the Fall Semester of 1989 at UC Berkeley.  Its Founders are Angel Ortiz, Eddie Duque, George Alva, and Isaias Martinez. They created the organization to help the advancement of Latinos in higher education and to breakdown the negative Latino stereotypes.  Through the three pillars of Hermanos Unidos, Academic Excellence, Community Service Involvement, and Social Networking, and through our philosophy of "El Nuevo Hombre," our members continue to grow and understand that each day is an opportunity to better themselves, and to be a positive influence in our society.

Hermanos Unidos was founded in Cal Poly Pomona in 2001. As of today, there are 100+ active members striving to graduate and become El Nuevo Hombre.
